Life can feel like we’re going through the motions and stressful. Ritual calls the peace within to the surface. Ritual is a tool that anyone of any spiritual or religious belief can practice. Rituals are an embodied spiritual practice. They can be done to honor a transition or life achievement or align our subconscious with higher consciousness.
Ritual is good for your health too. Practicing ritual has been shown to lower cortisol (stress hormone) levels, reduce blood pressure, boost immunity, and create peaceful breath patterns.
What is a ritual? A ritual is a set of actions you do mindfully with a specific sacred intention. A ritual can be performed daily, on a special day or any day you feel called to do it. All you need is an intention, your intuition, an action and any tools that help perform it.
Feeling called to try it? After meditation or doing a mindful practice, allow yourself to sit and journal or receive an inspiration for a ritual. Ask yourself: What would I like to honor or create? Write down your ideas.
Connect to your intention. Bring the intention from your mind into your heart.
Gather objects you would like to use for your ritual: Flowers, special objects, candles, sacred music, crystals, etc. Next set the stage. Some ideas are: light a candle, burn sage, say a prayer, set a crystal grid, chant a mantra, call in the directions or your guides.
Get into action. You can predetermined the action before you get to this part in your previous journaling. Or let your intuition inspire you. You could do a movement practice like dance or yoga, drum, use essential oils, draw oracle cards, listen to a guided journey or meditation, draw or paint sacred art, or create a healing bath.
Honor the ritual. Close your ritual by honoring all that occurred and thanking the guidance you received.
